There will be Birdlife Australia and Hunter Bird Observers Club will be bringing their knowledge on local bird ecology and conservation as well as taking people on bird walks. Hunter Water are bringing an Educational marquee all about being water wise and protecting our sewer system. Hunter Wildlife Rescue will be offering education on native animals in the Hunter, on making gardens wildlife friendly and how to help injured animals. The Anglican Diocese of Newcastle will have a potting table for children to plant their own seeds to take home and grow. Newcastle Orienteering Club will be present directing people to the permanent orienteering course. Australian Walkabout Wildlife Park / Ku-ring-gai Bat Conservation Society will have flying-fox ecology and information, displays of information on flying-foxes, live flying-foxes and talks. Newcastle City Council have activities including, become a waterbug detective and learn how to build your own bee hotel, they’ll be offering to join their Natural Connection network giving away a free native plant. The Australian Reptile Park will have public handling of Australian Wildlife with what I hear are a great show! LLS, LALC and Landcare will be coming with a focus on threatened species, land care, pest control and Aboriginal culture. Tree Tops Newcastle are there! Hunter Region Four Wheel Drive Council, Winten Property Group, Hunter Wetlands Centre as well as Teresa, the Snake Handler and Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group will also be attending, all with activities and offerings to be confirmed.

There’ll be a Welcome to Country, The Wirrigan Aboriginal Dance Group and a ceremony to acknowledge the completion of the Northern Estates offset land transfer by Yancoal – Coal & Allied to the National Estate will also be held.

St. John Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and NSW Police will be making their presence on the day! We’ll have our costumed characters, Platypus Pete, Wanda the Wombat and the Storm Troopers.

Lions Club of Jesmond will be providing a free sausage sizzle and there will be coffee by Sprocket, Kombucha by Pura Vida and a variety of delicious Gelato available for purchase.

We have some new attractions too!!

There’ll be Live Music with Stevi-Jade, a folky blues dream with an acoustic guitar to set the mood for the day.

Soulfire Circus Bin Bunyips, furry, fun child-friendly roaming stilt and juggling characters. These creatures live around wheelie bins playing fun bin-sorting games to help humans learn and care about our environment.

AND the Bubble and Supa Squirt Show supported by Hunter Water. The performance incorporates the use of clowning, circus skills, magic, slap stick, music and song to deliver an entertaining and memorable experience to everyone who sees it .. eight handy hints on how to save water in and around the home with Bubbles as a ‘drip detective’ learning along the way with the children.
