This is a greywater reedbed system I built last month at The Doctors House hostel and restaurant in the south of Sri Lanka. It receives waste water from the kitchen sink usually contaminated and unsuitable for directly putting into the soil and groundwater.
The bacteria present in the roots of these reeds process and clean the water. After this processing, we are then using the water on the vegetable garden. Waters precious! These and similar systems are simple and great because we can process all our wastewater on site and then re-use it 😊 if you are interested in building something like this get in contact with me.
